In 1961, Lyle Dilley accepted the position of Director of Bands and instructor of Low Brass at Fort Hays State University. Dilley (1925–2016) was one of the Hays Symphony's earliest directors and biggest supporters. To this day, the contributions from him and his wife, Bonnie, continue to positively impact our musicians and inform the vision of the Hays Symphony Guild.
